NIGHT OF THE PUNKS (2010) from DAN RIESSER / IRRATIONAL FILMS on Vimeo.
As a onetime veteran of dingy punk bands I can empathize with the empty room and unenthusiastic crowd that greets THE BRAIN DEADS whine they play their first out of town gig. I somewhat fondly recall getting ready to launch into our set of "business casual" punk rock in an Allston basement crammed with crust punk when our guitarist leaned over and whispered in my ear "lead balloon". Despite all the hardships of the indie rock lifestyle, one thing I've never had to endure is being a part of a ritual sacrifice. That's the fate in store for the band in Dan Riesser's Night of the Punks.
Fans of the goofy, irreverent Return of the Living Dead brand of horror comedy will definitely get a kick out of this short. Fueled by a snotty, upbeat punk soundtrack, Punks delivers twenty minutes of eighties inspired splatter and cheesy humor. Enjoy.
