Got a buck burning a hole in your pocket? Why not buy a book?

While going through the All Things Horror Facebook page (where did all you new subscribers come from overnight?), I came across a post for a new downloadable e-book for the whopping price of $0.99. Cal Miller’s “Het Madden, a Zombie Perpective” looks at a post apocalyptic world from the eyes of the Undead. Think World War Z told from the other side.

I haven’t had a chance to dig into the book myself yet, so I can’t comment as to the quality of the story or writing. Still, for the fact that for price of a double cheeseburger, you can give this a shot, and if it isn’t your bag, what are you really out? Personally I love the idea of a site like Smashwords giving anyone the chance to publish and profit from their own works.

There’s a brief description of the book on the Smashbooks website:

Not at all a typical Zombie Book this "Tale from the Zombie's Point of View" looks at the intelligence behind the blank stare combining gore and intrigue with political and religious undertones. Het Madden and millions of other “Infected” are cruelly mistreated by society and left to die. Their anger toward the "Healthies" results in a battle that takes place as Heaven and Hell cease to exist.

It’s an interesting premise and I’m interested to see how this stacks up against SG Browne’s “Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament”, which has a similar premise of a zombie population discriminated against by the world at large. By the title of the book, it appears this is the first in what’s meant to be a series.

If you’re without an e-reader, you can still read the book from your computer screen. The file is compatible with most e-readers including the Sony and Kindle. To find out more, head to their page on Smashwords.com
